DreamHack announce eSports plans in StarCraft II during 2011 featuring SEK 800 000 prize purse and continuous support from same partners as last year: SteelSeries, Eizo and Sapphire AMD.

E-sport at DreamHack was followed by millions of people in 2010 and is expected to grow further in the coming years. A few weeks ago we announced DreamHack’s total Prize Purse for eSports during 2011 and together with our partners SAPPHIRE, AMD, SteelSeries and EIZO we proudly present the details of this year’s tournaments in StarCraft II.

Five tournaments and SEK 800 000 Prize Purse DreamHack SAPPHIRE AMD Championship starts in March with an online tournament and then continue with four physical events where the major festivals, DreamHack Summer 2011 and DreamHack Winter 2011 with the finals at DreamArena Extreme, will be the most prestigious and also have the largest share of the total prize purse of SEK 800 000.

A large part of the world’s elite are expected to come to Sweden to compete for the title of this year’s DreamHack Champion. The tournaments can be followed on site as well as online with several different types of live broadcasts.

Overall Prizepool is 800,000 Swedish krona (SEK) ≈ 125,000 USD or 90,000 Euros Divided as follows:

Winter 2011 Qualifiers[edit]

All the winners in the first four tournaments will qualify for the finals at DreamHack Winter 2011. Open Qualifiers will be held online but also through International Qualifiers. More news, detailed information about the tournaments and the official tournament site will be announced shortly.

DreamHack Winter 2011 once again set the world record for the world's largest LAN party and computer festival with 20,984 participants and 13,010 computers connected the world's fastest internet connection of 120 Gbit/s.[1]
